About Me
Hey, I'm Nick!
Sitting down to write this, it occurs to me that I've worn a lot of hats. I started out doing data with virtually every step of the mortgage process at a little shop out of Detroit. Then I broke my lease, put everything into storage, and moved to Iowa to try and change the world in a Presidential Race. Next, I took a swing at Marketing Tech for awhile. I've been an Analyst, a Dashboard Guy™, a SQL engineer, an Open Source enthusiast, a Data Scientist, a fervent Pythonista, a tech blogger, a serial prototyper... the list goes on.
My imposter syndrome (alive and well, as I crest 30) insists that makes me some sort of dilettante. When I'm kinder to myself I appreciate how well-rounded this has made me. Indeed, if there's a throughline to be found in all of this, it's how much I've internalized Data Science to be a profoundly human endeavor.
I'm at my happiest when I'm plugged into a community of people equally excited to share and learn from one another. If I'm good at what I do, it's because I owe a great deal to the mentors I've had along the way. Frankly, I approach every new challenge as an opportunity to ensure that others might say the same about me.
When I'm not coding for money, or building silly side-projects to garner ones of views on this blog, I-- well, let's be honest, I'm still probably coding a webscraper or something 🙃
But when I'm not doing that, I'm an avid cinephile, an aspiring Jeopardy! champion, a hobbyist photographer, a runner, a karaoke fiend, and a burgeoning F1 fan.
Currently open to Data positions, Open Source projects (both world-changing and laughably-not), and your best (read: dumbest) Internet fare.
Thanks for checking out the page. Let's build some cool stuff together :)
